Gary has over 12 years of experience in the financial services industry where he worked as an active trader, financial advisor, supervising principal and was responsible for designing strategies to combat money laundering.

Gary served his country in the United States Army and National Guard as a light infantryman and Military Police. He remains active in support of various initiatives to support active duty and retired military personnel.

Gary and Pepper have now been married for 26 years. They are the proud parents of seven children and six grandchildren. Continuing their commitment to make a difference, the Snyders has also served as foster parents for some of Huntington's most vulnerable children.
*Extending the expanded child tax credit.

  • I support preschool for every 3-4 year-old and capping the cost of child care at 7% of a family’s income.

  • Expand access to quality home care for older Americans and people with disabilities.

  • Cutting taxes for low-wage workers by expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit.

  • Offer a public option to the Affordable Care Act.

  • Reduce health care premiums by expanding the Premium Tax Credit.

  • Cap the price of insulin at $35 per month.

  • I support President Biden’s budget that puts more police on the street for community policing and hires more agents. It funds body cameras, crime prevention, community violence intervention, drug treatment, mental health, criminal justice reform, and reentry for people coming home after incarceration.

  • Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act

Gary is the only veteran running in the Democratic Primary for Indiana's 3rd Congressional District. Gary is a 4th generation veteran having served as a light infantryman in the US Army. Gary's three brothers are also veterans of the US Army. Gary is the only candidate in the Democratic Primary that supports:

  • The "Burn Pit" Bill, offering treatment and compensation to veterans effected by toxic fumes from serving around military burn pits.

  • The EvestAct; which automatically enrolls veterans who are eligible for VA health care into the VA health care system.
My very first job was as a lifeguard at the local municipal pool for four summers.

Campaign website

Snyder's campaign website stated the following:

Helping Families

Gary became a single father of his three little girls (ages 3 months, 2-years old and 5-years old) at the age of 25. Two years later he met his wife Pepper. Gary and Pepper have now been married for 26 years. They are the proud parents of seven children and six grandchildren. Continuing their commitment to make a difference, the Snyders have also served as foster parents for some of Huntington's most vulnerable children.

Gary uniquely understands the struggles families face each day, that is why Gary is the only candidate in the Democratic Primary that supports:

  • Extending the expanded child tax credit.
  • Helping families find and afford dependable child care.
  • Making two years of preschool available to every 3- and 4- year old in America.
  • Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act

Congressman Jim Banks voted against families in each instance.
