Gary D. Witt is a judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District. He assumed office in 2010. His current term ends on December 31, 2036.
Witt ran for re-election for judge of the Missouri Court of Appeals Western District. He won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Witt was appointed by Democratic Governor Jay Nixon in February 2010 to fill a vacancy on the court.
Education
Judge Witt graduated from William Jewell College in 1987 and from the University of Missouri School of Law in 1990.[1]
Career
After law school, Witt was in private practice as a partner with a Platte City law firm. He served in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1991 to 1996, where he chaired the House Judiciary and Ethics Committee and the House Special Committee on Impeachment. Witt was appointed to the 6th Circuit Court (Platte County) in November 1998 by Governor Carnahan. He served that court until his 2010 appointment to the court of appeals.[1]
