Biography
Gayla McSwain served in the U.S. Army as an air defense artillery officer. She earned a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.[2]

|Elected to City Council in 2018, I am known for tireless commitment to my constituents and holding government accountable.
I have a long history of service, having served on various Boards of Directors including the executive committee of the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and the Trident United Way. I also served on the City of Goose Creek Planning Commission and on its Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee. Additionally, I am a graduate of The Riley Institute Diversity Leaders Initiative and Leadership Berkeley County.
A longtime advocate of public education and youth athletics, I served on several boards of parent-teacher associations, as a mock trial coach and scoring judge, and as a baseball team manager.
Now retired, I continue to contribute to the legal profession, being a charter member of the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and a certified mediator for all courts.- Fix our Roads and Infrastructure. Stop wasting money on pet projects and fix our roads now!
- Better Jobs. Create good-paying jobs that last a lifetime, and the job training to get those jobs.
- Better Education. Less waste, more money for teachers, and smaller classroom sizes.
