Martinez ran in the 2012 election for Indiana State Senate District 33. Martinez's name did not appear on the May 8 primary ballot. Martinez filed candidacy paperwork after the primary election and was defeated by incumbent Greg Taylor (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
