Campaign themes

2017

Davis' campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Healthcare: My plan to address the epidemic is threefold:

  • We will work with local law enforcement and healthcare providers to create a system that treats addicts for their heath issues, rather than just incarceration.
  • We will create a system that allows athletic trainers, school nurses, families, and doctors to work together to ensure the usage of medication in schools is regulated to prevent addiction from occurring.
  • We will work with EMTs to ensure a sufficient supply of Narcan, a drug used to treat overdoses, to bring down the high death toll attached to opiod addiction.

Rebuild Our Infrastructure

  • New Jersey is a critical shipping hub on the East Coast, yet we have a crumbling infrastructure.
  • Under the failed Christie administration, NJ Transit saw a 90% reduction in funding, and the Governor constantly stripped money from our transportation budget in order to fund tax cuts for his wealthy donors. It’s been nearly a decade of cuts and now our infrastructure is crumbling.
  • As a Northeastern state next to the ocean, we face challenges in both winter weather and salt in the air degrading and destroying our infrastructure. We must double down on our commitment to roads, bridges, and tunnels in order to ensure we build infrastructure that can stand up to the tests of nature.

Fiscal Responsibility

  • We must address our opponents’ out of control spending habits to lower our tax bills.
  • New Jersey has one of the highest property tax rates in the nation. This is unsustainable, and our taxes only go up year after year. The state government needs to sit down with the municipalities and the counties to ensure a more equitable distribution of funds. Some towns may not need as much funding as others for schools and infrastructure, and we need to ensure the municipalities that need funding receive it.
  • As your state Assemblyman, I will also fight to ensure New Jersey applies for more grants and lobbies for more federal funding than we currently receive. We are currently ranked #50 out of 50 in terms of how much federal funding we receive for what we pay in federal taxes, and I will do my best to get us the funding we so desperately need.[2]
