Gene Martin is a proud graduate of Manchester public schools, a homeowner, and father. Gene is running for School Board At-Large to make sure every child has the opportunity to succeed. To him, that means we have to prepare our high school graduates for college, a trade or technical school, or be workforce ready right out of high school. Gene wants to see Manchester thrive as a community where people want to live and work - and the key to that is strong schools.

His parents moved to Manchester, so their children could have a better quality of life, and Gene is running to make sure his daughter, your children, and your grandchildren have even more opportunities than he did.

Gene is committed to great schools because they are vital to a thriving and vibrant community. A great school district will provide opportunities for Manchester's children and grandchildren and helps to attract and keep businesses and residents. Our City needs pragmatic and innovative leaders to impact the direction of our public schools to ensure Manchester thrives for generations to come. Gene has been committed to service, as the Vice President of the Manchester Lions Club and as the Past Chair of the Plymouth State Alumni Board of Directors. He will complete his Master's of Public Administration from the University of New Hampshire in Spring 2020. Gene is a nonprofit development professional who lives in Ward 2 with his wife Erin, their daughter Catherine and Goldendoodle Zeus.
  • As a School Board Member, I will listen to parents, educators, and business leaders to develop strategic short and long term plans with measurable goals to improve student success.
  • As a School Board Member, I will ensure our students and teachers have the resources they need, like book and access to technology.
  • As a School Board Member, I will work with businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders to develop public/private partnerships and utilize all available resources to improve outcomes for students.
I am passionate about making sure our students have a chance and opportunity to succeed in whatever they want to do. Without a strong public education, I couldn't have gone from a 9-year-old living in a homeless shelter to be the first person in his family to graduate from college. A graduate of Southside Middle School and Memorial High, I am grateful for what Manchester's schools gave me. Now, it's time for me to give back to help the next generation of Manchester residents.
