Gene Walborn
Gene Walborn (Nonpartisan) was the director of the Montana Department of Revenue. He was appointed by Gov. Steve Bullock (D) on May 14, 2018, and served until the end of the term on January 4, 2021.[1]
Biography
Walborn began working with the Montana Department of Revenue in 1990. At the time of his appointment as director of the Montana Department of Revenue, he had been serving as the department's deputy director under his predecessor, Mike Kadas (NP). Walborn's previous positions in the Department of Revenue included Administrator of the Business and Income Taxes Division and chief of the Business Tax and Valuation Bureau as well as the Centralized Assessment Bureau.[2][3]

Department of Revenue Director (2018-2021)
Gov. Steve Bullock (D) appointed Walborn as director of the Montana Department of Revenue on May 14, 2018, following the retirement of Director Mike Kadas (NP).[1] Walborn served as director until the end of his term on January 4, 2021, and was succeeded by Brendan Beatty (NP).
In his capacity as the Department of Revenue director, Walborn was involved in the 2019-2020 U.S. Supreme Court case, Espinoza v. Montana Department of Revenue. Click here for more information.
