Genevieve Shiroma was a member of the California Public Utilities Commission. Shiroma assumed office on February 5, 2019. Shiroma left office on March 1, 2024.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) appointed Shiroma to the California Public Utilities Commission on January 22, 2019. She joined the commission on February 5, 2019.[1]

Shiroma was the District 4 representative on the Sacramento Municipal Utility District in California from 2014 to 2018.

Shiroma became a member of the Agricultural Labor Relations Board in 1999. She began serving as chair of the board in 2017. She also served as chair from 2011 to 2014 and 1999 to 2006. Shiroma was the chief of the Air Quality Branch at the California Air Resources Board from 1990 to 1999. She was an air quality engineer from 1978 to 1990.[2]

Shiroma was appointed to the California Public Utilities Commission by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on January 22, 2019.[2] She replaced Carla J. Peterman, who left the PUC in 2018. Shiroma served the remainder of Peterman's term, which expired in December 2024.[1]

The California Public Utilities Commission is a quasi-executive agency in the California state government. The commission regulates the state's privately owned electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, railroad, rail transit, and passenger transportation companies.[3]

Shiroma was the District 4 representative on the Sacramento Municipal Utility District in California from 2014 to 2018. She was elected to the office in 2014.

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District manages electric service for more than 600,000 households and businesses in Sacramento County. The district is operated by a seven-member board of directors with each director elected by geographical district to a four-year term.[4]
