|I first visited Annapolis in 1996 and was immediately taken by its colonial charm and welcoming spirit. A year later, I moved to Maryland, began my career designing residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces, and started my family. Since then, I have lived in Wards 5, 8, and now Ward 1, where my husband and I are raising our four children and three dogs while restoring a 1935 Dutch Colonial. In 2018, I was appointed Ward 1 Commissioner for the City's Art in Public Places Commission and elected Chair the following year. Working with state and local leaders, I helped secure permanent funding for the Commission by dedicating a portion of the Hotel Tax paid by visitors. This ensured our arts programs would no longer face underfunding. During 6 years of service, I managed budgets, organized free public art events and festivals, reviewed grants, and co-led the development of a 10-year Arts Master Plan. These efforts strengthened Annapolis’s cultural life while building strong working relationships with city departments and the Mayor’s Office.
Alongside my public service, I have built a successful career delivering award-winning strategies for clients through innovative, ethical practices. I also served as Secretary and Vice President of the District 30 Democratic Club, where I worked to boost voter turnout in the 2021 election, and was honored with the Sarah Flynn Do Something Democrat Award for my contributions to local elections.- Sustainability and Resiliency Annapolis faces unique challenges as a coastal city vulnerable to flooding and environmental change. I will prioritize sustainable development, stronger infrastructure, and expanded transportation options like safe bike lanes, pedestrian access, and cleaner public transit. By investing in resiliency today, we protect our homes, businesses, and quality of life for generations to come.
- Affordability and Housing The cost of living in Annapolis continues to rise, with housing, property taxes, and assessments burdening residents. I will work to bring forward solutions from other historic cities that generate revenue outside of taxes and parking fees. I will also support zoning reforms and creative housing strategies, such as converting vacant commercial properties into residential units, to increase affordable and “missing middle” housing so families can stay and grow in our community.
- Accessibility and City Services Every resident deserves efficient, reliable city services. From trash collection to permitting, residents must be able to navigate local government without frustration. I will strengthen communication and collaboration between City Departments and the community, ensuring residents, businesses, and visitors can access services with transparency and ease. Improving accessibility also means expanding safe and inclusive transportation options across the city.
Annapolitans deserve leadership that is transparent, solution-driven, and committed to fairness. I will review outdated codes and legislation that no longer serve our city, eliminate inefficiencies, and advocate for practical policies that reflect today’s needs. With six years of experience working alongside City Departments, I know the importance of accountability in government and pledge to use that experience to ensure City Hall works for the people of Annapolis. .
