Cook ran in the 2012 election for Rhode Island State Senate District 13. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on September 11. Incumbent M. Teresa Paiva-Weed ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Cook was defeated by Paiva-Weed in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1]
