I am an independent candidate running for San José City Council, District 10. I have lived in District 10 for more than 45 years. I am the only candidate with the expertise and advanced degrees in the areas of urban planning, law, and real estate. I am a practicing attorney and finished a 4 year term in June 2024 on the San José Planning Commission. I am endorsed by Mayor Matt Mahan, Johnny Khamis, the San José Police Officers Association, Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility as well as Almaden and Blossom Valley community and business leaders. I support Mayor Mahan’s agenda for a thriving San José.
  • Crime/Safety: I recognize the urgency of recruiting more police officers to reach a fully-staffed force. I believe more consequences are needed for those who break the law, starting with reforming the laws that have essentially decriminalized theft.
  • Homelessness: I want to speed up the transition from failed policies of the past to build basic housing faster and cheaper, and get our most vulnerable residents into safe and supportive interim housing.
  • Cleaning up our City: As part of my “back to basics” approach to city government, I will focus hard-earned tax dollars on essential services to keep our streets and neighborhoods free of the trash and blight plaguing our city.
I entered the District 10 race because I am passionate and determined to turn around unprecedented high crime rates, an understaffed police force, and a record-high number of homeless residents. I want to create a vibrant downtown as an enticing destination for residents and visitors, as well as an opportunity for first-time homebuyers to get a foothold in the market. By attracting business to downtown, workers can live and work in San José and eliminate long commutes.
When I was in the 7th grade I had a paper route for a year in the Santa Teresa area. I remember getting up at 5am and getting on my bike and heading to the location where the papers were dropped for me, gathering them up and then heading out to deliver them. Many on my route were in apartments and sometimes they moved before I got paid. I remember how disappointing that was. My paper route taught me responsibility and was a part of what would become a lifelong connection to the community that I grew up in, District 10.
Being transparent, responsive, and accessible to constituents are areas of utmost importance. Providing innovative and reasonable solutions to problems facing District 10
and San Jose. Having a thorough understanding and proven experience in the areas of law, negotiation, public policy, and urban planning. Supporting smart government spending and department accountability. Demonstrating a willingness to listen to all sides of issues and building consensus. Having a deep-rooted, vested interest in District 10, bringing the benefit of historical perspective and the best foundation for supporting legislation for the benefit of all constituents.
Mayor Matt Mahan, Johnny Khamis, San Jose Police Officers’ Association, Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility, BAYMEC, and thousands of our District 10 neighbors.
