George Edwards (Maryland)
George Edwards (Republican Party) was a member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 1. He assumed office on January 10, 2007. He left office on January 11, 2023.
Edwards (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the Maryland State Senate to represent District 1. He won in the general election on November 6, 2018.
Edwards served in the Maryland House of Delegates from 1983 to 2007.
Biography
Edwards earned his B.S. in business administration from Fairmont State College in 1970 and his teaching certification from Frostburg State College in 1974. His professional experience includes being drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1970 and playing professional football as a fullback. He served in the Maryland National Guard from 1970 to 1976.

Edwards was born in Grantsville, Maryland on April 9, 1948. He is married and has two children. He has been a member of the Garrett County Development Corporation, National Rifle Association, American Legion, Lonaconing Republican Club, and Lions Club. In 1997, he received the Legislator Recognition Award from the Maryland Association of Counties.[8]
