George Ferebee was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 30 of the South Dakota State Senate.

He has a degree in industrial engineering from the University of North Dakota, and an Air Force master's degree in business administration.[1]

Campaign themes

On the campaign trail in 2010, Ferebee claimed, "We have too much government; it’s too expensive and too intrusive" and that "the only way our society can work is if individuals make their own decisions on how they spend their money, how they take care of their place, how they live their life." He favors smaller government at all levels, and said that he would vote against any attempt to balance the state budget by raising taxes.[1]

Additionally, in 2010, South Dakota voters had the choice of banning smoking in bars, restaurants, and casinos. When asked about this issue, Ferebee admitted that secondhand smoke was a health hazard, but ultimately opposed the ban on the basis that the government shouldn't play a role in managing businesses and consumers choices.[2]
