A life-long resident of Columbia, George Floyd grew up in the Lake Katherine area just a few, short miles from his present home in Arcadia Lakes. He is a graduate the University of South Carolina, where he earned a B.S. degree in Political Science. George has spent most of his 35-year-long career in the hospitality industry as a business owner and general manager with a strong commitment to serving members of the community. He is currently serving as the Business Liaison for the City of Columbia Parking Services, a position that has provided him with the opportunity to further enhance his extensive customer service expertise and to experience local government from a unique perspective. George is married to his college sweetheart, Elizabeth, and they love living in Arcadia Lakes, as it provides a true sense of community among neighbors and a quiet refuge of serenity and beauty within the city.
  • Having spent most of my career in the hospitality and service industries, I truly enjoy serving and getting to know members of our community. I am compelled to get involved on a meaningful level to give back to the Town of Arcadia Lakes, the beautiful place my wife, Elizabeth, and I are pleased to call Home.
  • I will work to preserve and protect the integrity and beauty of Arcadia Lakes. Our current Town Council has worked hard for its residents, and my desire is to see that work continue, especially the repair and reopening of roads closed due to dam breakage.
  • Arcadia Lakes is a unique town within the Columbia metropolitan area. I'm interested in seeing its historical integrity upheld and will work diligently with the mayor and other council members in the best interests of our town and its residents.
I'm interested in the maintaining the autonomy of our town and providing transactional transparency.
