George Gigicos is a campaign consultant who specializes in advance planning and event design for Republican politicians. He is the founder of Telion Corporation, an advance and event planning group that has worked on the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Donald Trump. From July 2015 to August 2017, he was the director of advance for Donald Trump. He was dismissed from Trump's 2020 presidential campaign on August 29, 2017.[1]
Gigicos was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[2]
Career
Early career
Gigicos began working in event planning and advance planning for political campaigns while still in college at Birmingham-Southern College. According to Bloomberg, as a college student Gigicos worked in advance planning for the Treasury Department in the administration of George H.W. Bush (R). After graduating in 1990, Gigicos worked in advance and as an event planner for the Orange County Convention Center in Florida.[3]
Telion Corporation
In 1999, Gigicos started the Telion Corporation, a communications firm specializing in event design, organization, and advance operations.[4] While the head of Telion, Gigicos worked in advance planning for President George W. Bush's administration, his 2004 presidential campaign, and the presidential campaigns of John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012.[3]

Gigicos was one of the first staffers to sign on with Trump's presidential campaign, originally serving as the only member of the campaign's advance team. In this role, he organized campaign events and rallies across the country, eventually managing around 100 staff members to help coordinate the rallies.[5]
Transition team
Gigicos was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team. The transition team was a group of around 100 aides, policy experts, government affairs officials, and former government officials who were tasked with vetting, interviewing, and recommending individuals for top cabinet and staff roles in Trump's administration. He was part of the leadership staff.
White House role
In December 2016, Politico reported that Gigicos was one of Trump's campaign staffers being considered for a staff role in the Trump administration. The site reported that Gigicos was likely to be appointed as the director of White House advance.[6] He was appointed as deputy assistant to the president and director of advance on January 5, 2017.[7] On August 2, 2017, Gigicos announced that he would return to his consulting business but remain in Washington, D.C. According to CNN, he was hired to work on Trump's 2020 re-election campaign.[8]

After leaving the White House to rejoin his private sector business on August 2, 2017, Gigicos organized a rally for Trump's campaign in Phoenix, Arizona, on August 23, 2017. According to Bloomberg Gigicos was dismissed from the campaign on August 29, 2017, because Trump was displeased about the crowd size at the Phoenix rally.[1]
