George Hooker's journey in service to Hawaii is shaped by a humble dedication and a deep commitment to his community. His path began in sports, where he achieved success in wrestling, ultimately becoming the U23 National Champion. He also played football for the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, demonstrating his discipline and dedication.

In addition to his athletic pursuits, George served in the Hawaii National Guard, participating in missions to Poland and representing the army in wrestling championships. This experience instilled in him the values of hard work, discipline, dedication, and teamwork. George continued his pursuit of knowledge at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, graduating with a BA in Economics and currently pursuing a Master's in Mental Health Counseling at Chaminade. This educational background, combined with his real-world experience in Hawaii's state government, including roles in both the House and Senate and his work for the WAM Committee, has given him a deep understanding of complex policy issues, particularly in budgeting and policymaking.

George's vision for Hawaii is one of progress and inclusivity, focusing on community mental health, economic growth, food production, and education. He is dedicated to making Hawaii a better place for everyone, viewing the state not just as his home but as a community that deserves thoughtful and forward-thinking leadership.
  • Public safety is paramount for Hawaii, ensuring the well-being of its residents while preserving the islands' unique environment and culture. It is essential for maintaining a thriving community and promoting a sustainable future for the state.
  • Comprehensive planning for housing in Hawaii is crucial for addressing the state's diverse housing needs, ensuring affordability, and promoting sustainable development. It lays the foundation for vibrant communities and a resilient housing market, essential for Hawaii's future prosperity
  • The shortage of mental health counselors in Hawaii highlights a pressing need for greater support and resources in this area. Strengthening mental health services is essential, as it not only improves individual well-being but also lays a foundation for a more resilient and prosperous future for Hawaii.
From my previous answers: Public Safety, Working Family Housing, Mental Health. The last is Island Food Sustainability: Food sustainability is vital for Hawaii's future, as the state currently relies heavily on the mainland for its food supply. Developing local food production and sustainable practices is crucial for ensuring food security, reducing reliance on imports, and preserving the environment.
