George Martinez is a member of the Anchorage Assembly District 5 in Alaska, representing District 5 Seat I. He assumed office on April 18, 2023. His current term ends in 2026.
Martinez ran for election to the Anchorage Assembly District 5 to represent District 5 Seat I in Alaska. He won in the general election on April 4, 2023.
Martinez is a program director for the Alaska Humanities Forum.[1]
2021 battleground election
David Bronson defeated Forrest Dunbar with 50.66% of the vote to Dunbar's 49.34% in a nonpartisan runoff election for mayor of Anchorage, Alaska on May 11, 2021.[2] Overseas ballots continued to be counted until May 25, when the Anchorage Assembly certified the results, but Dunbar conceded the election to Bronson on May 21, saying "“it is clear that Dave Bronson will be Anchorage’s next mayor”[3] .
Dunbar and Bronson advanced to the runoff election after the April 6 general election, as neither candidate won more than 45% of the vote. Bronson received 33% of the vote to Dunbar's 31%. No other candidate received more than 15% of the vote.[4]
