George Moulton Carpenter
George Moulton Carpenter (1844-1896) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. He joined the court in 1884 after an appointment from Chester Arthur. At the time of his appointment, he was an Associate Justice for the Rhode Island Supreme Court. He served until his death on July 31, 1896.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments
District of Rhode Island
Carpenter was nominated by President Chester Arthur on December 16, 1884. He was confirmed by the Senate on December 18, 1884, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on July 31, 1896. Carpenter was succeeded in this position by Arthur Lewis Brown.[1]
