  • During the September 2015 GOP debate, George Pataki supported birthright citizenship again. “I don't think that we should tell that child born in America that we're going to send them back. The way to avoid that is to have an intelligent immigration policy where we know who is coming here, why they are coming here, so we don't have this flood of people coming here for the wrong reasons,” said Pataki.[2]
  • On August 18, 2015, George Pataki said of birthright citizenship, “I don't support amending the Constitution to kick out kids who were born here.”[3]
  • In May 2015, Pataki said he supported a "pathway to citizenship at the back of the line" excepting members of the military. Pataki expressed skepticism of candidates who suggest mass deportations as an immigration solution.[4]
  • Pataki supported legislation in 2002 to allow immigrants living in the United States without legal permission and enrolled in the New York public university system to pay in-state tuition.[5]
