George Schroeder
George Schroeder was the first South Carolina Inspector General. He was appointed to this position on March 11, 2011 by Gov. Nikki Haley, the same day she signed the executive order (dead link) creating the office. Schroeder resigned seven weeks after being appointed to the position.[1]
Schroeder previously served as chair of the Fiscal Crisis Task Force during Governor Haley's transition. Prior to that he was Director of the South Carolina General Assembly's Legislative Audit Council for 33 years.[2] Schroeder said he felt this is a position that the state has always needed and called his appointment to the position "a wonderful opportunity."
