George Thomas McDermott was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit and the United States District Court for the District of Kansas. He was appointed to the Tenth Circuit by President Herbert Hoover in 1929 and the District of Kansas by President Calvin Coolidge in 1928.[1] McDermott passed away on January 19, 1937.

McDermott spent his legal career in private practice in Topeka, Kansas.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

Tenth Circuit

McDermontt was nominated by President Herbert Hoover on April 18, 1929, to a new seat created by 45 Stat. 1346. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 29, 1929, and received commission the next day. He served until his death on January 19, 1937.[1]

District of Kansas

McDermontt was nominated by President Calvin Coolidge on January 12, 1928, to a new seat created by 40 Stat. 1156. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 16, 1928, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until April 30, 1929, when he moved to the Tenth Circuit[1]
