Three of the seven seats on the Georgetown Independent School District board of trustees were up for general election on May 7, 2016. Place 1 incumbent Scott Stribling and Place 2 incumbent Scott Alarcon ran unopposed and won re-election. Place 3 incumbent Andy Webb defeated challenger Paula Chaney to win another term on the board.[1][2]

Voter and candidate information

The Georgetown Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected at-large to three-year terms. Each member is elected to a specific seat but represents the entire district. There was no primary election, and a general election took place on May 9, 2015, for Places 1, 2 and 3.[1]

School board candidates had to submit candidacy paperwork with the school district secretary by February 19, 2016. Candidates running for the school board must be a United States citizen, a resident of Texas for at least 12 months and a resident of the district for at least six months. Candidates must also be 18 years of age or older and registered to vote.[3]
