Ballot title

The ballot title for Amendment 19 was as follows:

FOR ratification of amendment to Article VIII, Section V, Paragraph I of the Constitution of Georgia, authorizing the General Assembly to pass a special Act or Acts to merge the existing school system of the City of Cordele and the existing school district in the County of Crisp living outside the corporate limits of said City, into one school district or system coextensive with the limits of said County.

AGAINST ratification of amendment to Article VIII, Section V, Paragraph I of the Constitution of Georgia, authorizing the General Assembly to pass a special Act or Acts to merge the existing school system of the City of Cordele and the existing school district in the County of Crisp living outside the corporate limits of said City, into one school district or system coextensive with the limits of said County.

A two-thirds (66.67%) vote is required during one legislative session for the Georgia State Legislature to place an amendment on the ballot. That amounts to a minimum of 120 votes in the Georgia House of Representatives and 38 votes in the Georgia State Senate, assuming no vacancies.
