Thousands of general elections are taking place across the United States on Nov. 5, 2024. Those elections include offices at the federal, state, and local levels. 2024 elections

At the federal level, Georgia voters will elect 14 U.S. representatives.
Georgia was scheduled to hold elections for two public service commissioner seats, but the elections were postponed due to a pending lawsuit challenging the structure of elections for public service commissioner.
All 236 seats of the General Assembly are up for election, including 56 seats in the state Senate and 180 seats in the House. There are four open seats in the Senate and 13 open seats in the House.
Municipal elections will be held in DeKalb County for chief executive officer, chief magistrate, district attorney, sheriff, solicitor general, tax commissioner, county commission, soil and water board, superior court clerk, and in Fulton County for district attorney, sheriff, solicitor general, surveyor, tax commissioner, county commission, superior court clerk. These counties are part of the 80 counties included in Ballotpedia's coverage of municipal elections. Atlanta is also holding a special election for city council.

One hundred thirty two statewide ballot measures were on the ballot in Georgia from 1985 to 2022. Voters approved 109 measures and defeated 27.
State analysis
Partisan balance
Georgia has two Democratic senators. Democrats have a majority in the U.S. Senate. There are 47 Democrats, 49 Republicans, and four independents in the U.S. Senate. Three independents caucus with the Democratic Party, and one other counts towards the Democratic majority for committee purposes.
Democrats represent five and Republicans nine districts in Georgia's U.S. House delegation. In the U.S. House, Republicans have a 220-212 majority with three vacancies.
As of October 2024, Republicans have a 33-23 majority in the state Senate and a 102-78 majority in the state House. The last time Democrats had a majority in the state Senate was 2002, and the last time they had a majority in the House was 2004.
Because the governor is a Republican, Georgia is one of 23 states with a Republican trifecta. It has had this status since 2005. Georgia's attorney general and secretary of state are also Republicans. This makes Georgia one of 25 states with a Republican triplex.

Following the 2020 presidential election, 45.4% of Georgians lived in one of the state's 122 Solid Republican counties, which voted for the Republican presidential candidate in every election from 2012 to 2020, and 35.4% lived in one of 27 Solid Democratic counties. Overall, Georgia was New Democratic, having voted for Mitt Romney (R) in 2012, Donald Trump (R) in 2016, and Joe Biden (D) in 2020.
