Georgia: Georgia governor Nathan Deal has appointed two new judges in the First Superior Court District. Republican representative Roger Lane will fill the seat on the Brunswick circuit vacated by resigned Chief Judge Amanda F. Williams.[1] Lane has been practicing law for thirty years, most recently focusing on clients with lung ailments and those affected by asbestos. In order to serve in this position Lane must live within the Brunswick circuit, which encompasses Camden, Glynn, Wayne, Appling, and Jeff Davis counties.[1]
Governor Deal also recently appointed Jeffrey H. Kight to the Waycross circuit vacancy in the First Superior Court District.[2] Kight will fill the vacancy left by Michael P. Boggs, who was appointed to the Georgia Court of Appeals in December 2011. Kight is currently serving as the State Court solicitor in Coffey County and also works as an attorney with Cottingham & Porter in Douglas County.[2]
