My work on the Community Engagement Commission, Community Conversations on Policing, Corridor Planning, and more recently, the Climate Action Team, State Fair Task Force, and the Environment Commission, alongside dedicated residents and our excellent staff and Councilmembers, has helped improve safety in our city and has provided a strong framework for moving forward together in a sustainable, equitable future.
- I am a scientist and data-driven with a heart. In my career as Professor in evolution and ecology at the U. Minnesota, I honed a key skill that will serve me well as a Council member – putting together information and resources to address complex problems that may not have an easy answer.
- I work tirelessly for the greater good. I am well-prepared and bring my focus, experience, and preparation to every meeting. When tackling difficult issues such as policing, development, or the impacts of climate change, I want to hear from all residents even though we may not agree.
- I am confident. Together, we can build a sustainable and equitable community that is fiscally sound, using tax and assessment resources responsibly and creating innovative non-tax funding sources.
- Responsible Growth
- Responsibility - come prepared to every meeting or task, participate in Council meetings with integrity.
- Information-based decision making - assemble the information, communicate information to citizens so that they may make decisions.
- Responsive - actively recruit, listen to, and engage citizen feedback. Be willing to compromise.
- Courage of conviction - make decisions for the greater good and stick to them.
