Gerald Lange
Gerald Lange (b. February 19, 1928) was a Democratic member of the South Dakota House of Representatives, representing District 8.
Lange earned his PhB from the University of North Dakota in 1951. He then attended Georgetown University in 1957. He went on to receive his Ph.D. from the University of Navarra in 1964.
Lange served as T-3 in the 126th Signal Service Corps of the United States Army from 1946 to 1947. He then did Look Out/Trail Work for the United States Forest Service at Deerlodge National Forest from 1951 to 1957. From 1954 to 1962, he worked as a teacher. Lange then worked as a Professor of English at the University of Navarra from 1962 to 1964. He then worked for Dakota State University as a Professor of History from 1964 to 1990. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Sioux Valley-Southwestern Electric Cooperative since 1971.
Lange served on the Lake Central School Board from 1981 to 1984. In 1984 he was a candidate for the South Dakota State House but was not elected. He then served in the South Dakota State Senate from 1990 to 2000. Lange joined the South Dakota State House of Representatives in 2000 and served in that position until failing to win re-election in 2006. He was elected state representative again in 2008 and served in that position until 2011 when he was defeated in the general election. Lange and his wife, Alice, have four children.

Lange ran for re-election to one of two seats in District 8 of the South Dakota House of Representatives. Also running were fellow Democratic incumbent Mitch Fargen, Patricia Stricherz (R) and Jason Bjorklund (I).[1] Lange was defeated on November 2. Mitch Fargen (D) and Patricia Stricherz (R) won election in the general election.[2]
