Gerald Rafferty is a former judge for the Eighteenth Judicial District Court of Colorado. He was appointed in 1999 and was most recently retained by voters in 2014.[1] [2]

Rafferty resigned from the court on January 23, 2016. He was succeeded by Gary Kramer.[3]

Military service

Rafferty attended the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs for his undergraduate education. After he graduated, he served as an Air Force pilot until 1972 and as a special agent for the FBI from 1973 to 1977.[1]

Education

Rafferty received a bachelor's degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1967. He then earned his J.D. from the John Marshall Law School in 1978.[1]

Career

Rafferty began his legal career in 1978 as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office. He left this position and was of counsel to a private law firm in 1988 and 1989. He then returned to work as a federal prosecutor until 1995. From 1995 until his judicial appointment in 1999, he worked as a deputy district attorney in Denver and an adjunct professor with the University of Denver Law School.[1]

2014

Rafferty was retained to the Eighteenth Judicial District with 70.0 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [4]
