Sadly, access to safe drinking water isn’t a guarantee even here in Southern California and that is particularly true in communities of color. Unsafe drinking water exposure causes serious health problems that disproportionately impact poor and minority communities. We must do better. Our future depends on it.
I’m Gerard McCallum and I’m running for the Water Replenishment District Board to better protect the health and safety of our families.
As Board Director, I will:
Get health-harming toxins out of our water supply
Protect our ground water from drilling and fracking for oil and gas
Focus on local workforce investment, hiring and apprenticeship programs
Focus on the utilization of local small businesses and contractors
Engage the public on future infrastructure investments that ensure low-cost water availability
Prevent the move to privatize these public agencies
Seek collaboration with statewide water agencies to develop sustainable plans for water independence and climate change mitigation
- Assure harmful toxic are out of our water supply.
- Oppose further fracking in the Inglewood Oil Field and support all efforts to close it.
- A focused effort to increase the utilization of local work force and small businesses.
