Gerard Wattigny was a judge of the 16th Judicial District, Division A in Louisiana. He was elected to this position in 1995 and was sworn in on December 4th of that year. He was re-elected in 1996, 2002 and 2008.[1][2] He retired at the end of his term on December 31, 2014.[3]

Education

Wattigny received his undergraduate degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and his law degree from the Louisiana State University Law School.[1][4]

Career

Wattigny practiced law with the firm of Armentor & Wattigny for 28 years prior to joining the 16th Judicial District in 1995. While serving as a judge, he established various Iberia Parish courts: an Adult Drug Court in 1998, a Juvenile Drug Court in 2000, a Re-Entry Drug Court in 2003 and a DWI Court in 2008--all of which he administrated until his retirement from the bench.[1]
