Geri Huser
Geri Huser was a member of the Iowa Utilities Board. Huser assumed office on May 1, 2015. Huser left office on April 30, 2023.
Huser was first appointed to a six-year term by Governor Terry Branstad (R) in 2015. She was reappointed by Governor Kim Reynolds (R) in 2021 to another six-year term.[1]
Huser began serving as chair of the board in 2015. She was reappointed to serve two-year terms as chair in 2017, 2019, and 2021.[1]
Huser was a Democratic member of the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 42nd District from 1997 to 2011.
Biography
Huser worked as a planning specialist with Polk County Social Services. She was previously a program manager with the Polk County Family Enrichment Center from 1990 to 1996, and a social worker with Polk County General Relief from 1986 to 1990. Huser was also a member of the Greater Des Moines Housing Partnership, Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Polk Booster Club, East Polk Interagency Association, and Altoona Family Home.[2] She also served on the Altoona City Council from 1990 to 1994.[3]

Huser served as chair of the Iowa Utilities Board from 2015 to 2023. Huser was first appointed to a six-year term on the board by Governor Terry Branstad (R) in 2015. She was reappointed by Governor Kim Reynolds (R) in 2021 to another six-year term. She resigned on April 30, 2023, and was replaced by Erik Helland.[1]

Huser represented the 42nd District from 1997 to 2011 as a Democrat.

Huser lost her bid for re-election to the 42nd District seat against Kim Pearson (R). Huser had no opposition in the Democratic primary. The general election took place on November 2, 2010.[4]

On November 4, 2008, Huser was re-elected to the 42nd District Seat in the Iowa House of Representatives with no opposition.[5] She raised $136,465 for her campaign.[6]
