Esparza was a member of the Toms River Regional Schools school board in New Jersey, representing South Toms River District. Esparza assumed office in 2012. Esparza left office in 2018.

Three of the nine seats on the Toms River Regional Schools school board were up for general election on November 3, 2015.[1] The seats of incumbents Joseph Torrone, Gigi Esparza, and Ginny Rhine were on the ballot.[2]

Challengers Joe Nardini and Christopher Raimann defeated Rhine and Torrone for the two Toms River Township seats. Nardini and Raimann ran together as a candidate slate. South Toms River Borough incumbent Esparza won re-election without opposition. Al Caporaso originally filed to run in this race, but he withdrew before the election.[3][4]

Esparza reported no contributions or expenditures to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission in the election.[5]
