My name is Giovanni Coppola and I am a small business owner. I am very passionate about working towards a better future for New Mexico as I have lived here my entire life. I know our state can do so much better and I want to work everyday to make that happen. As a leader my primary focus will be the betterment of our state and not personal political gain. Being a business owner has taught me so many valuable lessons and I plan to use them as a representative. I believe our elected leaders need to spend more time working on real solutions for the people of new mexico and less time fighting over partisan issues.
  • Economic Growth and Stability
  • Limited Government and Individual Liberty
  • Reduced Taxes and Regulations
I am incredibly passionate about growing our state economically. New Mexico has so much to offer businesses of all shapes and sizes but government continues to stand in the way. We must reduce taxes both on a corporate level and a individual one to begin to be competitive with our neighbors. We need to enact policies that promote growth and economic development and by doing so we will see rewards in every aspect of life. A strong economy helps drive down crime rates, improves our education system, and will help stem the tide of our youth fleeing to other states for better opportunities.
My father and Grandfather. I have always been very close with my father and we have worked side by side for as long as I can remember. He has taught me everything I know about business and what it means to be accountable. My grandfather just like my father has taught me so many valuable lessons I could never begin to list them all. I look up to both men everyday and hope to be just like them.

Above those two men however is my dear mother. She is the greatest, strongest, and most loving person I know.
Staying true to your principles when its both convenient and not so convenient is most important to me. Remembering you were sent to represent the people of your district and not only yourself is critical. Far to often politicians start with great intentions and evolve into something different.
Fiscal Responsibility! We are spending other peoples hard earned tax dollars and they must be treated as if they were our own.
When people look back on my legacy they will say, that guy worked tirelessly everyday to create a better future for New Mexico.
Without a doubt the terrorist attacks on September 11. I was only 10 but I remember school being canceled and my parents picking myself and my brothers and sister up from school. I remember going home and watching the news and the days and weeks that followed.
My first job was my very own landscaping and snow plowing company I started when I was 15. I would write letters offering my services for yard cleaning and a variety of other tasks and place them in mailboxes around my neighborhood. It did not take long before I had a long list of customers who would hire me during the summer and weekends while I was in school.
Hammer of the Gods. It is an autobiography about Led Zeppelin and the reason it is my favorite is because I remember reading it every night with my dad when I was a young boy.
Adolescence was an incredibly rewarding period of my life that shaped me into who I am today. Along with my many successes there have been bumps in the road and everyone no matter the severity have taught me to grow and made me better. My youth was a blessing and I remember every bit of it with great admiration for my family and friends. I am excited to take the next step in adult hood and begin the next chapter of service and sacrifice to my community.
The biggest difference between the two is that our house of representatives is supposed to initiate revenue raising legislation.
I do not. As a matter of fact I believe having new faces with fresh ideas is a great way to continue to grow. It is the responsibility of each candidate to demonstrate his or hers individual qualifications and for the voters to vet them out and make a decision they feel is best for their district.
1. Weak Economic Growth

2. Poor Education Performance

3. High Taxes
I believe the governor and legislature should be able to work closely together. In states where you have a good relationship between the two you typically see good results statewide. The ability to debate ideas and work on solutions is the key to success. I believe spending time arguing over partisan issues only hurts the people of the state.
Building relationships with other legislators is very important. Learning from those who have experience is also critical to becoming successful at any new job. Having strong working relationships in any professional environment is the key to cohesion and success.
My Top Three Choices Would Be.

1.Commerce and Economic Development
2.Taxation and Revenue

3.Transportation, Public Works and Capital Improvements
If my colleagues felt I would be beneficial in a leadership role I would be more than happy to accept the responsibility.

As of today I am only focused on running for NM State House of Representatives. One day becoming a Congressman or Senator would be an incredible honor but that is not a focus of mine today. My goal is to be successful at the job I am seeking now and let the future play out as it may.
I hear a similar version of this story quite often but when discussed with this one individual in particular it really struck home. I was out knocking doors and began a conversation with an older woman who was living alone. We began to discuss her children and how they had moved out of the state for better job opportunities. She told me she wished they would return to New Mexico so she could see them more but they were doing so well in Texas that she understood why they weren't rushing home. After this conversation I realized the only reason she was living alone was because the better future for her children was in another state. This situation and many others like it are in part the reason I decided to run.
