Hi. My name is Glenda A. Smith. I was raised by a single parent in public housing. I was a teen mother; ostracized and told explicitly or implicitly on a daily basis I would not get out of the projects. Because of my faith, work ethic and charity I have a bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate. I have four children. My oldest has a master’s in social work, my son is a Journeyman Electrician and member of IBEW Local 648, my third child graduated from Wellesley College with her bachelor’s and my fourth child is in her second year at Howard University. I have over 20 years of experience fighting for justice for marginalized people in juvenile, domestic relations, Indiana and Ohio Court of Appeals and Federal Courts. Currently, Glenda successfully fights for civil rights of persons convicted of a crime in the Court of Appeals and for children and families whose civil rights have been violated by the government. Glenda has practiced in the United States Supreme Court. If you want a juvenile judge that understands children, families and obstacles, choose Glenda for Judge and join the campaign.
  • Respect-Treat employees and the people it serves with respect.
  • Reform-Bring juvenile justice and family preservation reforms to Hamilton County Juvenile Court by providing comprehensive services and evidence-based programming to court involved families. With a deliberate commitment to reducing racial disparities and improved conditions of confinement, I will assist with making sound, informed, life-enhancing decisions for the betterment of youth, family, and community.
  • Reflect-Reflect on how the court’s actions affect Hamilton County residents. I will use methods that are humane, efficient, and effective while keeping the community safe and saving thousands of dollars.
Juvenile Justice Reforms and Civil Rights in general. Advocate for public education, transportation and healthcare.
Jesus Christ. Otherwise, people who are consistent in character. Thurgood Marshall because his passion was the protection of civil rights. Marshall was the first black person to serve on the US Supreme Court. He served from 1967-1991. Marshall founded the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, where he served as executive director. In that position, Marshall argued several cases before the Supreme Court, including Smith v. Allwright, Shelley v. Kraemer, and Brown v. Board of Education, which held that racial segregation in public education is a violation of the Equal Protection Clause (14th Amendment).
Act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with the Lord.
Mopping floors and washing dishes for family from age 10-15.
The Bible because its the gift that keeps on giving.
I think the Juvenile Court Judge should advocate for legislation that is consistent with healthy families like the abolition of mandatory bind over which is before the Ohio House of Representatives now (HB500).
If we do not protect civil rights we will cease to be a civilization.
I am passionate about juvenile justice reform for the betterment of our community.
