Gloria Teresa Bahakel was a Republican judge on Circuit 10 in Alabama from 1998 to 2010. She was defeated in her bid for re-election in 2010. She ran unsuccessfully for a new term on the court in 2012, 2014, and 2016.

Alabama held general elections for local judicial offices in 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016, with a primary runoff on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016.

Michael Streety defeated Gloria Bahakel in the general election for the Alabama 10th Judicial Circuit Place 26 seat.[1]

2014

General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 48.8 percent of the vote. She competed against Pat Ballard. [2][3] 

2012

Bahakel ran for election to the Jefferson County District Court. She defeated John Forrest Halcomb in the Republican primary on March 13, winning 57.01 percent of the vote. She was defeated by Katrina Ross in the general election on November 6, receiving 45.52 percent of the vote.[4] [5][6]

2010

Bahakel was up for re-election to the 10th Circuit Court. She ran unopposed in the primary election, but lost to Stephen Wallace in the general election.[7]

Education

Judge Bahakel received her undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1977 and her law degree from the Birmingham School of Law in 1983.[8]

Career

Judge Bahakel was admitted to the practice of law on May 2, 1988.[9] She worked as a lawyer, was part of the firm Bahakel & Bahakel, and served as a part-time Special Circuit Judge before joining the circuit court in 1998.[8]
