Gloria Torres was a member of the Oklahoma City Public Schools school board, representing District 6. Torres assumed office in 2014. Torres left office on April 10, 2023.

Torres ran for re-election to the Oklahoma City Public Schools school board to represent District 6. Torres won in the general election on April 2, 2019.

She was first appointed to the board in August 2014 following Jay Means' resignation from the position.

Torres was born in Oklahoma City. She has one daughter. She began working with the district in 1989 and has worked in elementary and high schools in positions ranging from teacher assistant to principal. In 2004, she became the district's first Latina principal.[1]

Former board member Jay Means, William Lee Molden and Torres all initially filed to run for the District 6 seat which was scheduled for election on February 10, 2015. However, Means and Molden withdrew from the race on December 5, 2014.

Results

The election was canceled due to a lack of opposition in the race, and Torres was automatically elected to her first full term.

Funding

Torres reported no contributions or expenditures to the Oklahoma Ethics Commission in this election.[2]
