Marian Olson and Mary Weaver attempted, but failed, to qualify for the ballot a recall election for 7 members of the Golden, Colorado City Council.[1][2]
Recall supporters received approval for the recall petition forms on December 23, 2008, and they had until February 20 to get enough petition signatures. State law required signatures totaling at least 25% of the total votes cast in the last regular election for that seat, which ranged from a few hundred to more than 1,000.[1] The group did not submit the necessary signatures by the deadline.[2]
The motivation for the unsuccessful recall effort was the city's decision to consolidate the management of all three of the community's historical museums under one nonprofit.[1]
