An effort to recall Maria Gomez, Luiz Ramirez and Richard Gonzalez from their Trustee Area 1, 2 and 4 seats, respectively, on the Golden Plains Unified School District in California was on the ballot on November 3, 2015.[1] Voters chose to recall all three members.[2]
The three members were elected to the board in 2014. If voters had retained them, their terms would have ended in 2018.[3]

Recall supporters
The recall effort started after board members voted to end then-Superintendent Jesus Cruz's contract. In July 2015, the board appointed Martin Macias as the new superintendent. Macias previously served as the English learning director at the Stanislaus County Office of Education.[4]

On July 22, 2015, the Golden Plains Board of Education announced there would be a recall election for Gonzalez, Ramirez and Gomez. According to the Fresno County Clerk, the election was expected to cost $25,000 to $40,000.[4]
