Goldie Wells is a member of the Greensboro City Council in North Carolina, representing District 2. She assumed office in 2017. Her current term ends in 2025.
Wells ran for re-election to the Greensboro City Council to represent District 2 in North Carolina. She won in the general election on July 26, 2022.
Wells was appointed by the city council on July 18, 2017, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Jamal Fox.[1] Wells previously represented District 2 on the city council from 2005 to 2009.[1]
Biography
Wells earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Hampton University and North Carolina A&T State University and a doctoral degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.[2]
At the time of her 2017 run for city council, Wells was retired from her position as president of Saints Academy and College. Her professional experience also includes work as the Title I director for the Iredell-Stateville Schools and a teacher for the Wake County and Guilford County school systems.[2]

Greensboro, North Carolina, held a general election for mayor and all eight seats on the city council on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held on October 10, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was July 21, 2017.[3][4] Incumbent Goldie Wells defeated Jim Kee in the general election for the District 2 seat on the Greensboro City Council.[5]
