- Partisan politics do not belong in the courtroom or in a judicial campaign. I am committed to keeping politics out of my courtroom and out of my campaign. I have shown my commitment by not belonging to a political party, not signaling an affiliation, and not seeking the endorsement of any partisan politician or special interest group. I recognize that as a judge, I am no longer an advocate. I cannot hold the bias for a party like a prosecutor for the state or defense counsel for a client. My role is to make a decision by applying the law to the facts of each case.
- Life and legal experience matters as a judge. I decided to apply for and now run to retain my position as judge because I felt ready to take on this important legal position in the community from having these diverse personal and professional experiences. These experiences help me make the best decisions I can for the people and businesses that bring their important legal matters to my courtroom. These experiences are important because I make better decisions now with these experiences than I would have when I had only 10 years of experience.
- As a fair and unbiased judge, I follow the rule of law as given by the legislature and higher courts, exercising judicial restraint from making law. I hold people accountable for their actions by applying the law to the facts and, when sentencing, being firm but fair and ensuring I meet the statutory objectives of punishment, rehabilitation and sending a message of deterrence.
