Gordon Myse

Gordon Myse is a former Board Member of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board a governmental agency of Wisconsin administering elections and ethics laws in Wisconsin. He was selected as Secretary for 2011, his last year on the board.

Education

A native of Kaukauna, Myse graduated with his Bachelor's degree from Beloit College in 1957 and an Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1960. Myse spent three years in the U.S. Naval Reserve at Camp Pendleton in California from 1960 to 1963.

Professional career

After serving in the US Naval reserve, Myse practice law with the Appleton-based law firm of Herrling, Lathrop & Myse and served as family court commissioner for Outagamie County. In 1972 he was named by Governor Patrick Lucey circuit court judge for Outagamie County. During his tenure as a circuit court judge, Myse headed a special state committee on judicial ethics and served on a number of other panels, including the Wisconsin Judicial Commission, the Wisconsin Judicial Council, and a committee to study compensation in the Wisconsin court system. In 1983 he returned to private practice, and in 1986 Governor Anthony Earl appointed him to fill a vacancy in the District III Wisconsin Court of Appeals representing Northeast and Northwest Wisconsin. Myse retired from the Court of Appeals in 1999.

Government Accountability Board

Myse was appointed to the board by Governor Jim Doyle in 2007 and was confirmed to the Board on a vote by the Wisconsin State Senate. His term ended in 2011.
