Gov. Manchin appoints 8 new judicial advisors

Charleston, West Virginia: Gov. Manchin has appointed an eight-member Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission to help him fill judicial vacancies and evaluate hopeful judges. The Commission will create a list of candidates within 90 days of a judicial vacancy. They will also advise the governor on which candidate to choose.
The appointees to this commission include:
- Kent Carper - Kanawha County Commission President
- 'Charles S. Trump IV - former House of Delegates Minority Leader
- Kenny Perdue - West Virginia AFL-CIO President
- Don Wagenheim - Chairman of H.E. Neumann Co.
- Burt Ketchem - Lawyer in Huntington, WV
- Sam Duncan - CEO of J.H. Fletcher and Co.
- Steve Robey - Owner of Arnett & Foster PLLC
- Debra H. Scudiere - Lawyer with the firm of Kay, Casto & Chaney and former president of the State Bar.
In addition to these eight members, the commission will include: the governor or someone appointed in his place; the President of the State Bar; and the dean of the West Virginia University College of Law.[1]
