The Hudson County Board of County Commissioners functions as the county's primary legislative and policy-making body. County commissioners are tasked with approving an annual budget, enacting ordinances, approving county contracts, and making appointments to public offices. Hudson County has nine commissioners who are elected by district to three-year terms.[2] Prior to 2021, the board was previously called the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders.[3]
