The county government of Riverside County is located in Riverside, California. The county was established in 1893. It covers a total of 7,303 square miles in southern California.[1]

Riverside County, California, held primary elections for board of supervisors and superior court judges on March 5, 2024. Candidates could win outright with a majority of the vote in the primary. If no candidate received a majority, the top two vote-getters advanced to the general election scheduled for November 5, 2024. Elections for the superior court seats were canceled if the incumbent was the only candidate to file. Those incumbents were automatically re-elected to their seats.

The county also held a general election for county board of education seats on March 5, 2024. The elections were canceled for unopposed races. The filing deadline for the board of supervisors, superior court, and county board of education seats was December 8, 2023

General elections for Edgemont Community Services District, Home Gardens Sanitary District, Riverside Community College District, and Western Municipal Water District were held on November 5, 2024. The filing deadline for these offices was August 9, 2024.

2022

Riverside County, California, held primary elections for assessor-county clerk-recorder, auditor-controller, district attorney, sheriff-coroner-public administrator, superintendent of schools, treasurer-tax collector, board of supervisors, and superior court judges and a general election for county board of education on June 7, 2022. Candidates could win outright with a majority of the vote in the primary. If no candidate received a majority, the top two vote-getters advanced to the general election scheduled for November 8, 2022. The filing deadline for these elections was March 11, 2022.

The county also held general elections for community college district board, community services district board, sanitary district board, and water district board on November 8, 2022. Elections could be canceled if only one candidate filed. The filing deadline for these elections was August 12, 2022.[2]

2020

Riverside County, California, held general elections for county supervisor districts 1 and 3 as well as judge of the superior court offices 1 through 23 on November 3, 2020. A primary was scheduled for March 3, 2020. The filing deadline for this election was December 6, 2019. If no incumbent or candidate filed in the election, the filing deadline was extended by five days to December 11, 2019.

Board of education

The board of education functions as the appellate agency for student expulsions and transfers, authorizes charter school petitions, and adopts the county superintendent's annual budget, among other responsibilities. It consists of seven trustees elected to four-year terms.[4]
