Alabama: Yesterday Governor Robert Bentley appointed three judges to fill vacancies on the state courts.

Liles Burke will succeed Kelli Wise on the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. Burke has been a judge on the Marshall County District Court since 2006. This appointment fills the last vacancy on the state's appellate courts.[1]

James H. Roberts, Jr. was appointed to the Circuit 6 Court. He succeeds Charles Malone, who resigned to serve in the administration of Governor Bentley.[2]

Mannon G. Bankson, Jr. will succeed Gus Colvin on the District Court in Calhoun County. Bankson has primarily worked as an attorney in private practice, but also spent two years as a judge on the Circuit 7 Court.[3]

All three judges must run for their appointed seats in the 2012 election if they will to continue serving.[4]
