Arizona: On Friday, Governor Jan Brewer announced the appointment of Catherine Woods and Jeffrey Bergin to the Pima County Superior Court. Both appointees have spent the majority of their legal careers in private practice. The new judges fill the vacancies left by the retirement of Hector Campoy and Michael Cruikshank.[1]

In the announcement, Governor Brewer said, "Catherine Woods and Jeffrey Bergin possess the highest ethical standards and are well-respected by their peers in the legal community. Their legal expertise and commitment to serving the citizens of Pima County make them well-qualified to serve on the Pima County Superior Court."[1]

Both judges will serve initial terms that expire in 2014. If they wish to continue serving on the court, they must stand for retention in that year's election.
