California

California: On Friday, May 18, Governor Jerry Brown announced the appointment of two judges to the California Courts of Appeal and fifteen judges to the California Superior Courts. This is the largest number of judges the governor has appointed in one day during this term. Below are the appointees:

District Courts of Appeal

Judges appointed to the District Courts of Appeal must be confirmed by the California Commission on Judicial Appointments. If confirmed, they must stand for retention in the 2014 election.

Superior Courts

Notable about these appointments is that Halim Dhanidina is the first Muslim-American to be appointed to a court in California.[3]
