South Dakota: Governor Dennis Daugaard is set to interview four finalists put forth by the State Judicial Qualifications Committee following the retirement of Judith Meierhenry. Daugaard has the option of revising the court to his liking based on the ages of current serving judges and the manditory retirement age of 70. He and Chief Justice David Gilbertson have also discussed removing the district requirement for supreme court justices from the state constitution allowing justices to oversee a more balanced case load. Daugaard has expressed that he is looking for "Emotional stability and maturity, a lack of ego, [and] breadth of experience" from candidates.[1][2]
