Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: Governor Mary Fallin has announced the appointment of attorney Bernard Jones to the Seventh District Court in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma.[1]

Before being appointed to the bench, Jones served as the associate dean for admissions and external affairs at Oklahoma City University School of Law. Previously, he was an associate attorney at McAfee and Taft, an Oklahoma City law firm, where he focused on issues of labor and employment law. He has also worked as an associate at Porter Wright Morris and Arthur, a law firm in Ohio.[2]

Jones earned a bachelor's degree from Southern Methodist University, and earned his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School.[2]

Jones is currently the chairman of the board of directors of the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City. He serves on the board of directors for Sunbeam Family Services, the American Cancer Society-High Plains Division, and Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.[2]

This District 7 judgeship was formerly held by Judge Tammy Bass LeSure, who resigned earlier in the year before pleading guilty in March to two counts of fraud stemming from her alleged claim of foster support payments and adoption assistance for children who did not live with her.[1]
