Florida: Last week, Governor Rick Scott announced four appointments to the courts serving Miami-Dade County.
- Thomas J. Rebull was appointed to the Eleventh Circuit Court, succeeding Israel Reyes;
- Rosa C. Figarola was appointed to the Eleventh Circuit Court, succeeding Mary Barzee Flores;
- William Altfield was appointed to the Miami-Dade County Court, succeeding Victoria R. Brennan after her appointment to Eleventh Circuit; and
- Spencer Multack was appointed to the Miami-Dade County Court, succeeding Lisa S. Walsh after her appointment to Eleventh Circuit.
Only Figarola served previously as a judge, on the Miami-Dade County Court since 2001. Rebull worked in private practice, while Altfield and Multack were prosecutors. All four must run to keep their seats in the 2012 election if inclined to continue serving.[1][2]
